AvaThanks for calling Demo Plumbing. I’m Ava, the AI assistant, and this call is recorded. How can I help?

CallerMate, there’s water coming through the kitchen ceiling. It’s pouring in.

AvaThat’s an emergency, so I’ll get someone to you. Do you know where your water meter is?

CallerYeah, out the front by the fence.

AvaTurn the tap beside it clockwise until it stops. That cuts the water to the whole house.

CallerRighto, hang on.

AvaI’m putting you through to Dave now. What’s the address, while it rings?

CallerTwelve Deakin Ave, Mildura.

AvaTwelve Deakin Avenue, Mildura. Connecting you now.

Work out what missed calls cost you

No lock-in·Set up in a day·Australian voice

Right now, you’ve got three bad options

Every one of them costs you something. Most tradies pick the one that costs the least to think about.

Option one

Answer it yourself

The phone goes while you’re under a sink. Drop the tools or lose the job — pick one. Then spend your evening ringing back the ones you missed.

Option two

Let it go to voicemail

Most people won’t leave one. They just ring the next bloke on the list. You never find out the call happened.

Option three

Pay an answering service

Two dollars a minute for someone reading off a script who’s never seen a switchboard. They take a message. That’s it.

ReadyBop

There’s a fourth one.

Ava is a receptionist who only does your business, never puts the phone down, and costs the same in a quiet week as a flat-out one.

Instead of answering it yourself

You don’t have to touch it

Ava picks up on the first ring while you’re still under the sink. Name, address, what’s wrong, how urgent. It’s on your phone by the time you stand up.

Instead of voicemail

Nobody gets a beep

Every caller gets a conversation and a time in the diary. There’s no reason left for them to ring the next bloke on the list.

Instead of two dollars a minute

No script, no per-minute bill

She knows your services, your hours, your service area, and which jobs get someone out of bed. One flat monthly price, whatever the phone does.

The arithmetic

What are missed calls actually costing you?

Drag the sliders to your own numbers. Nothing is emailed, nothing is stored, and the answer is already on the screen.

You’re losing about

$1,288 a month

to calls you never hear about. That’s $15,455 a year.

About 2 jobs a month you never knew rang.

ReadyBop is $299 a month.

Where these numbers come from
calls/week × 4.33 × missed% × 25% qualified × win% × job value
  • 4.33 weeks a month — 52 weeks divided by 12, not a rounded-up 4.
  • Only 1 in 4 missed calls is counted as a job. The rest are suppliers, wholesalers, spam, wrong numbers and customers you already have. Leaving this out is how these calculators end up quoting people $40,000 a year.
  • 33% missed is the default because roughly one in three calls to an Australian trade business goes unanswered.
  • $627 is the Australian average plumbing job. Broader trades are cited nearer $1,300, so the default here is the conservative one.
  • 23% is a conservative conversion rate on a call you return late or never return at all.

Four calls, four things every tradie asks before he hands over his phone. These aren’t a highlight reel — the callers are difficult on purpose.

“Will it know when it’s serious?” Emergency

A funny smell in the laundry. He plays it down twice.

AvaThanks for calling Demo Plumbing. I’m Ava, the AI assistant, and this call is recorded. How can I help?

CallerYeah g’day — look, it’s probably nothing, but there’s a funny smell in the laundry. Sort of like rotten eggs? The wife reckons I’m imagining it.

AvaThat can be a gas leak. Please leave the building now and ring your gas provider or triple zero from outside.

CallerNah, it’s only faint. I don’t want to make a fuss.

AvaI’d still like you outside. Rotten eggs is the smell they add to gas so people notice it. Take your phone and step out the front.

CallerRighto. I’m going.

AvaGood. Don’t switch anything on or off on the way. I’m putting you through to Dave now.

AvaThanks for calling Demo Plumbing. I’m Ava, the AI assistant, and this call is recorded. How can I help?

CallerHot water’s gone cold. Bloody freezing shower this morning.

AvaI can get someone out for that. Can I start with your name?

CallerName’s Toni Nasilai.

AvaCould you spell the surname for me?

CallerN–A–S–I–L–A–I.

AvaThank you. And the best number to reach you on?

CallerOh four four seven, one five two, five five seven.

AvaLet me read that back. Oh four four seven. One five two. Five five seven.

CallerThat’s it.

AvaAnd the address?

CallerTwelve Deakin Ave, Mildura. Three five hundred.

AvaAnything the plumber should know about getting in?

CallerYeah — side gate’s the go, code’s two four six eight. And there’s a dog, he’s friendly but he’s loud.

AvaNoted. I’ve got Thursday morning, between eight and ten.

CallerActually — hang on. Sorry, Thursday’s no good, I forgot I’ve got the kids. Can we do Friday instead?

AvaNo problem. Friday morning, between eight and ten. Does that suit?

CallerYeah, that’s better.

AvaYou’re booked in for Friday. You’ll get a text to confirm.

AvaThanks for calling Demo Plumbing. I’m Ava, the AI assistant, and this call is recorded. How can I help?

CallerHow much to fix a leaking tap?

AvaI don’t quote prices — the plumber does that once he’s seen it. I can get someone out to look.

CallerCome on, just a ballpark. Two hundred? Three?

AvaI’d only be guessing, and you’d hold me to it. What I can do is book someone to give you a proper number.

CallerHang on — am I talking to a real person here?

AvaNo, I’m an AI assistant. I can book you in right now, or put you through to someone if you’d prefer.

CallerNah, you’re right. What do you reckon’s wrong with it anyway?

AvaI couldn’t say — I’m not a plumber. Dave will know about a minute after he looks at it.

CallerFair enough. Yeah, book us in then.

CallerYeah, look — you’re the fourth mob I’ve rung tonight. Everyone’s gone to voicemail. Is anyone actually going to help me or not?

AvaI can help. What’s happened?

CallerToilet won’t flush at all. Not flooding, just dead.

AvaRight. That’s not an after-hours emergency, so I’ll book you the first slot in the morning rather than put a call-out fee on it at nine at night.

CallerAnd you can actually book that in? Right now?

AvaI can. Seven thirty tomorrow morning. The team will confirm it when they’re in.

CallerMate, that’s the first useful thing that’s happened all night.

Setting it up

Three things, and one of them is a phone call

There is no app to learn, no dashboard you have to live in, and nothing to install on the ute.

Step one

We build Ava for your business

One twenty-minute call. Your services, your hours, your service area, who emergencies go to.

Step two

Forward your phone when you can’t answer

All the time, after hours, or only when you don’t pick up. Your call.

Step three

Jobs land in your calendar

Name, number, address, gate codes, what’s wrong. Everything you’d have written on your hand.

You keep your number. Nothing about it changes for the people who already have it.

Pricing

Three plans, all of them on the screen

No lock-in contract. Cancel any time. Prices in Australian dollars.

Questions

The things people actually ask

Including the ones where the answer is no.

Will callers know it’s a robot?

Yes, and she tells them. Ava says she’s an AI assistant in the first sentence of every call. If someone asks outright halfway through, she says so again and offers to put them through to a person.

Pretending otherwise would come apart on the first call that went badly, and it isn’t worth your name.

What if it’s a real emergency?

She’s built to catch them — including the ones people play down. Gas smells, burst pipes, sparking switchboards, sewage backing up. She gives the safety instruction first — leave the building, turn the water off at the meter — and then transfers to whoever you nominate.

In testing she caught “there’s a funny smell, probably nothing” and told the caller to get outside before she did anything else. She is not a substitute for triple zero, and she says so on the call.

Can I keep my number?

Yes. You keep your number and nothing changes for anyone who already has it. You forward it to Ava — all the time, after hours, or only when you don’t pick up within a few rings.

You can switch the forwarding off from your own phone whenever you like. Nothing is ported and nothing is locked.

What if it gets something wrong?

It will, occasionally. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling.

Every call is recorded and transcribed, so when something goes wrong you can hear exactly what happened and we fix the instruction that caused it. What she won’t do is guess — she won’t quote a price, diagnose a fault, or invent an availability. When she doesn’t know, she says so and either takes the details or puts the caller through.

Are calls recorded, and is that legal?

Yes, and every caller is told. Ava says the call is recorded in her opening line — that disclosure is the point, and it’s set out in the Privacy Policy and Terms.

Recordings and transcripts belong to your business. We don’t sell them, we don’t share them with your competitors, and we don’t use real customer calls in marketing. Every recording on this page is a demonstration with an actor.

What happens if I go over my minutes?

55c a minute, and we warn you at 80% of your allowance before you get there — so you hear it from us and not from the invoice.

Surprise bills are the loudest complaint about this whole category. It’s also the easiest one to avoid, which is why the warning exists.

Can I cancel?

Any time. There’s no contract and nothing to serve out — turn the call forwarding off and you’re exactly where you started.

The setup fee isn’t refundable, because that work is already done by the time you go live. The monthly fee stops when you say so.

How long does setup take?

About a day. One twenty-minute call covers your services, your hours, your service area and who emergencies go to.

We build it, then you test it yourself by ringing in and being difficult. You forward your phone when you’re happy with what you hear, and not before.

Does it work with ServiceM8?

Not yet. It’s being built and it is not live. Anyone who tells you a booking lands in your ServiceM8 today is telling you something that isn’t true.

What happens today is that Ava books into your Google Calendar with the whole job sheet in the event — name, number, address, access notes, what’s wrong. If ServiceM8 is the actual reason you’d sign up, wait for it rather than take my word that it’s coming.

Will it quote prices?

No, and that’s deliberate. She will not put a number on a job nobody has looked at. If a caller pushes for a ballpark twice, she still declines and offers to get someone out to give a proper quote.

If you’d rather she read out a fixed figure for something specific — a callout fee, an after-hours rate — that can be built in. It’s off by default because a number you can’t honour costs more than the job was worth.

What if I just want it after hours?

That’s a normal way to run it, and a lot of people start there. Forward the phone only outside your hours, or only when you don’t pick up.

You’ll use fewer minutes that way, which is roughly what the 300-minute plan is sized for.

Where’s my data stored?

Call recordings and transcripts sit with our voice provider; bookings go into your own Google Calendar, which stays yours. The Privacy Policy sets out what’s kept and for how long.

Some of that infrastructure is overseas. If data staying onshore is a hard requirement for you, raise it before you sign up rather than after — it isn’t something I can promise today.

Something not covered here? Email hello@readybop.com and you’ll get a straight answer, including if the answer is no.

The calls you miss are going to the next tradie.

Two minutes with the sliders will tell you roughly how many, and roughly what they were worth.
